When you have a blog to run, one of the main things you hope for is traffic. You want as many people to visit your blog as possible. This is particularly the case if you have a lot of advertising revenue opportunities. However, even just for those who want to use their blog to share ideas and stories, this is a primary motivation.
But how do you get people to come to your blog? If you are relatively new to blogging, you might feel a little at a loss as to how to draw more people in. You have probably been through some of the basics, but you’re unsure how to continue.
How is it that other blogs draw in so many more people than yours? Well, fear not. In this post, we will look at some of the key ways that you can increase your blog’s traffic – all with very little effort. Let’s take a look now.
SEO
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – SEO is something that we have covered on this site previously, but it is a method which bears repeating. The reason? It is so effective! In short, SEO is a series of techniques and methods for improving your site’s placement in search engine’s listings. If you thought that this was something that was beyond your control, think again. SEO consultants specialise in making websites appear higher on search engines like Google and Yahoo.
There are numerous parts to the process, but ultimately it all comes down to search terms. Armed with the knowledge that internet users will use certain common search terms, we can ensure that our blog is loaded with those terms. Too loaded, however, and it will be obvious that something is amiss, so there is a balancing game to be played here. Either way, this is one of the most effective ways of drawing in a crowd.
CRO
Almost as popular as SEO, is another method by the name of conversion rate optimisation (CRO). But what is conversion rate optimisation? In a way, it is like a more generically-applied version of SEO. With CRO, the aim is to cause visitors to take a certain action. The most commonly desired of such actions is, of course, that more visitors go to the webpage, but it can be anything that you like.
CRO works by gathering plenty of data about your blog and its visitors, and using that to further optimise your blog for those people. It is a little like a modern Web-based version of market research. CRO utilises the behaviour of your visitors for your benefit.
Sharing, Sharing, Sharing
Besides the behind-the-scenes techniques mentioned above, there is one other sure way to drive more people to your blog. It is amazing how many people overlook sharing as a viable way to drive traffic. In fact, it is one of the major things that any blogger should be doing.
The key here is to share on as many different platforms as you possibly can. Ultimately, this is one of the easiest ways to get more people reading your entries.
Thanks for sharing! Definitely going to keep some of these tips in mind to help increase my traffic! 🙂 xxx
