As if finding gifts for someone isn’t hard enough, try having a alcohol, dairy and gluten free boyfriend (I’m sorry O, I love you dearly, but you don’t half make the shopping a challenge).
With Easter fast approaching, and my boy missing having chocolate, there wasn’t a chance I’d let him go chocolate-less this year. I noticed Hotel Chocolat did not only a dairy-free range, but also a gluten-free range – perfect!
I ordered O a lovely scrambled chocolate egg with mixed nuts and fruit chocolate pieces, his favourite! My mum insisted on buying him dark chocolate city bunnies as well. Slightly more expensive than your average chocolate, but Hotel Chocolat always has been.
I’m quite a fan, so I could justify every penny. I even have a couple stashed of Eton Mess, Shortcake Billionaire and Milk Truffles in the cupboard. I paid £5.95 extra for special delivery as I knew it was a bank holiday weekend coming up, so I wanted to make sure it arrived with plenty of time.
Alas! Thursday came, still no chocolate. Despite paying extra to nominate a day for delivery, nothing arrived. It took a week to finally turn up — which was pretty disappointing, as I didn’t get to surprise O.
Despite the late arrival, a whooping 38 bunnies (as opposed to 16 that I ordered), as well as the scrambled egg and chocolate pieces turned up. So, the extra chocolate, coupled with a full refund made up for a chocolate-less weekend.
What’s your experience with Hotel Chocolat been like?
I am also gluten free and didn’t realise that Hotel Chocolat did a gluten free range. I’ve never bought from them before as they are so pricy but I may treat myself in the new year.
Totally agree- perfect for a treat though 🙂 xx
We have gluten and dairy free family members and I’m glad to say that shopping for them is getting easier.
