Interview with a beauty blogger: A Little Pop of Coral | UK Lifestyle Blog

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m Jo, I am the other side of 30, which does not actually bother me too much (although I know it sounds old to some!) and I live in South Devon, quite close to Plymouth. I have two men in my life, my amazing husband Matt, and my little boy William, who is 3. I work as an Admissions Officer in an Art College part time and the rest of my time is filled up with being a mum and blogging, which I absolutely love!

Why did you initially decide to start a blog?

When I was pregnant with William my hormones went crazy and my skin was horrendous, I turned to google to find solutions and quickly got hooked watching You Tube videos, which then progressed onto blogs.

I have always loved beauty and am fascinated by make-up and skincare products and having now discovered blogs, I thought, I really want to do this. Then last March, I had keyhole surgery so was off work for 4 weeks so decided to take the plunge and start A Little Pop of Coral while I was recovering. Since then I have never looked back, I absolutely love blogging!

What beauty products can you not live without?

Alpha-H Liquid Gold, Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation, Maybelline The Falsies Mascara, Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanner

What beauty product are you currently loving right now?

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel is the most luxurious pink gel cleanser that smells amazing and makes your skin glow!

If I gave you £100, what beauty items that you don’t own would you buy?

Aesop Parsley Seed Mask, Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, Tom Ford Lipstick in Spanish Pink. All of these are on my wishlist waiting to be bought!

Three hair, skin care or make up tips you’d like to share with us?

  • Take Omega 3 supplements, they really work wonders in improving the condition of your skin.
  • Use a dried out liquid liner pen as a brush to apply your gel liner.
  • Use a hair treatment once a week religiously, to keep your hair in tip top condition.

Any advice to anyone that wants to start a beauty blog?

Just do it! I started off not having a clue, but you learn every single day. my blog is a work in progress!

What are the best aspects of running your own blog? What are the hardest aspects?

The best is being part of a wonderful community that gives you so much support and encouragement. Also having something to be really proud of as I know that I have put my heart and sole into it. The hardest aspects is simply not having enough time to write more posts, I would love to do this full time but have to work too and look after my son, so I fit it in when I can!

Two beauty blogs you love that we should know?

Gemma from Miss Makeup Magpie has an amazing blog, she posts everyday and writes the most detailed reviews. She is also an extremely lovely person!

Also, TeaseFlutterPout is another fabulous blog that I love. Laura writes a variety of beauty posts including reviews, latest trends and she loves a good dupe!
