I had the pleasure to interview the lovely beauty blogger, Hannah who writes over at Hannah’s Beauty Sweet to get an insider to what products she uses, blogging advice and her favourite reads.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
Hey! I’m Hannah, a 24 year old who with a career in the tech industry, currently working on the video streaming services on Playstation hardware, When I’m not blogging or working I enjoy shopping, watching plenty of TV & movies, playing games and keeping fit.
Why did you initially decide to start a blog?
I always relied on blogs for reviews before buying many things so I thought it would be useful to share my experiences too.
What beauty products can you not live without?
Lemon Aid by Benefit for hiding my dark under eye circles and my Schwarzkopf Absolute Platinum hair dye!
What beauty product are you currently loving right now?
My new Nars blush in Orgasm; a perfect mix of a natural flush and highlight shimmer.
If I gave you £100, what beauty items that you don’t own would you buy?
Guerlain’s Météorites, a jade facial roller and Ginerva’s Marvel Gel.
Three hair, skin care or make up tips you’d like to share with us?
Ooh I never know what tips are common knowledge and what isn’t!
- For me, one of the most important thing is using opposing colours to correct imperfections (e.g. peachy yellows to correct dark shadows).
- The key to tidy make up I personally find is patience and practice, I think a lot of untidy make up spawns from rushed attempts.
- Switch to a natural bristle hairbrush; much smoother and gentler on your hair.
Any advice to anyone that wants to start a beauty blog?
Make sure you have a fairly good set up for taking photos (I cringe looking back at some of my old posts with terrible photos) – a half decent camera and a nice background, preferably relatively plain. Investigate getting your own domain early on (I use GoDaddy) as it was a pain to switch over later. Investigate SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). Get yourself a set structure/checklist for each post and make sure you always include information on the cost, results, ease of use etc.
What are the best aspects of running your own blog? What are the hardest aspects?
The best bits are the sense of community amongst bloggers and getting to discover some really great products. Going to blogging events and meeting people is really fun too! The hardest aspects are keeping up with it when you’re having an immensely busy patch outside of blogging!
