Every day my Instagram feed is overloaded with toned abs and tanned bums, I’m green with envy when I reluctantly double-tap. I don’t mind a bit of running and I enjoy a healthy lunch as much as the next girl, but I find pulling myself out of bed to exercise every morning a struggle.
In an attempt to tone up and shed a couple of pounds long before summer, I’ve devised a sneaky strategy to lose the excess Christmas weight. I’m not expecting miracles, but I’m actually feeling better for it too, so either way, I’m winning. So these are the small changes I’m making to my day to shed some winter chub:
Grocery shopping when I’m not hungry
Heading to ASDA when you’re hungry is a diet death-wish. I strongly believe that you shouldn’t eat to live, and you should live to eat. However, if I haven’t eaten and I head to the supermarket, I’ll clear out the desserts in the bakery section. Your house will then be filled with stuff you don’t usually eat that is bad for you.
Before you head to the shops have a good meal and decide what you’re going to buy. I like to go onto Pinterest and make a meal plan for the week before writing a list of all the ingredients I’ll need. It’s a good way to spice up what we eat, stay healthy and spend less.
Meal replacement shakes – what a blessing!
It’s important to understand your eating habits and fuel your body when you need to. I’m very much somebody that eats little and often, so meal replacements have been an absolute God sent for me.
Usually, on a Monday, I have so many emails to get through, I sit and gaze at my desk until they’re all finished. Meal replacement shakes are a quick and easy way for me to lose weight and enjoy a liquid lunch whilst I’m busy typing away. They are a life-saver when you are on the go, too.
I’ve been on a course of Shakeplus. Packed with protein, fibre, vitamins, minerals and healthy fats, Shake Plus diet with lots of essential nutrients but no excess calories. The best thing? Shake Plus have all-natural, no artificial additives and no added sugar – LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Ready, steady, GO!
Everybody has an exercise that they enjoy doing; for me, that’s going for a long run. Sometimes the thought of digging out my trainers, getting ready and creating a playlist puts me off getting outdoors. It seems absolutely ridiculous, but it’s true!
I keep my kit in a neat pile and have a running playlist ready to go on my iPod Shuffle (fully charged!). I even throw on my leggings if I know I’m going for a run later in the day, then I’m ready to go as soon as I’ve done whatever is on my to-do list.
HITT exercises in the morning
When the calendar is packed or you just can’t find any motivation, make this the exercise you don’t miss. The High-Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) program is a comprehensive combat-specific strength and conditioning program. Different components of performance enhancement training are key components to superior speed, power and strength endurance.
There are so many different types of HITT exercises available online that you can do in less than 10 minutes, and you’ll notice the difference in weeks. By doing this first thing in the morning, you’ll get it out of the way, be able to forget about it and get on with your day – soon it’ll become a habit!
I love a HIIT class as they’re short enough to not waste all day but intense enough to actually make a difference! Not a fan whatsoever of meal replacement shakes, they’re just not realistic in terms of a healthy diet, totally agree with everything else though 🙂 Alice xxx
