CBD Skincare: The Secret To Banishing Oily Skin When You’ve Tried Everything

CBD skincare is the latest beauty trend, and as somebody that struggles with sensitive, acne-prone skin, this has become a staple in my cosmetics cabinet. Last year published I Took CBD Oil Everyday For 30 Days And Here’s What Happened. I wrote about my sleep improved, my anxiety was reduced, and my skin appeared clearer.

Ingesting it was offering benefits, but I wanted to start exploring topical treatment in skincare products. Before long, I began to realize the benefits of CBD oil in skincare. I tried a CBD skincare routine for 21 days and here’s what I learnt.

What is CBD?

CBD stands for cannabidiol, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. It’s not only been hyped up in the beauty industry, but CBD oil has also become crowned as a miracle oil for conditions such as arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and diabetes.

In my previous articles, I touch on much of the negative effects and media attention that cannabis gets, which is from the THC chemical compound that is associated with the ‘high’. However, the CBD compound makes up 40% of the plant and has none of these negative effects usually associated with cannabis.

Rather than the psychoactive effects of THC, CBD instead produces a calming or relaxing feeling in the user that can help to reduce anxiety, and even painkilling and anti-inflammatory effects, proven by numerous studies over the years.

CBD in skincare

We all know that skincare brands are not equal, and this is true for CBD-based skincare also. I’ve been using EthicaCBD skincare based on its brand ethos and value.

Each of their products is quadruple-tested, which gave me peace of mind and confidence in their CBD range.

What benefits can CBD skincare offer?

Studies show that CBD oil has anti-inflammatory benefits when applied to the skin. It’s also a great choice for those with acne-prone skin, thanks to its ability to adjust how the body creates sebum. It’s not just great for acne though, its anti-inflammatory properties are now standard in most skin products for healing conditions such as eczema and Psoriasis, too.

1. Anti-aging holy grail

CBD oil plays a vital role in keeping your skin hydrated and healthy. It has antioxidant properties that allow the products to reduce the visible signs of aging on your skin. Hemp plants that produce CBD oil contain two fatty acids, Omega 6 and Omega 3, that stimulates the production of collagen and thus preventing excessive water loss.

2. Soothes and alleviates psoriasis

Psoriasis is an autoimmune illness that attacks healthy skin cells. The skin condition accelerates the life cycle of skin cells by causing the cells to multiply quickly on the surface of the skin. Sufferers of psoriasis can find relief in CBD oil, by aiding inflammation and soothing pain.

3. Acne’s worse nightmare

Acne is a skin condition that arises when dead skin cells, dirt, or excess oil accumulate clogging the pores, the bacteria that live in hair follicles multiply, leading to an inflammation called acne. The build-up of the bacteria, in turn, causes red blemishes on your skin. Unlike other oils, CBD oil won’t clog the skin. In addition to this, CBD oil inhibits oil production and has anti-inflammatory properties (see why I love it now?)

4. Conquers dry skin

When you have dry skin, even maintain the moisture using medications can be hard because there is a temptation to over-moisturize. The advantage of using CBD oil is that it doesn’t affect the functioning of your sebaceous glands. The oil instead interacts with your skin glands regulating the production of oil. As a result, it doesn’t just help your skin to prevent the overproduction of oil; it also helps dry skin to increase oil production.

5. Reduces eczema

Suffering from eczema can be both stressful and frustrating. The condition often makes its victim’s lives uncomfortable and challenging due to the frequent and intense itchiness. It causes the patches of the skin to crack, turn red, itchy, and inflamed. CBD oil can help in treating skin conditions because it can relieve skin dryness and reduce inflammation.

If you have eczema, you may want to try EthicaCBD Night cream.
