Are you confused by the title of this post? Many people will be. I’m here to tell you that you should forget everything you think you know about fitness. Fitness can seem complicated at first, but once you begin to understand, everything starts to fall into place. Forget cardio. Forget calorie counting. Forget feeling hungry. It isn’t about any of that! If you want to get fit and look like an athlete, you need to forget what you think you know.
Fitness Isn’t Just Cardio
So many people think that they need to do a ton of cardio to improve. They think that cardio is the only way to stay slim. They’re wrong! While cardio does have a place in fitness, it should not be as heavily emphasized as it is. Resistance training and other forms of training are much more effective and so much easier to stick to. Why? Because they’re interesting! Any good personal trainer will tell you that cardio is not the be all and end all. Click here to learn more, seriously, click this link.
To Get Fit You Need to Eat to Support Your Training
You won’t get fit if you don’t eat to support your training. This might mean eating a lot more than you’re used to or less, depending on your goals and body type. Whatever you do, you should never starve or deprive your body of nutrients. Being fit means being strong and healthy, not weak and thin. If you don’t eat to support your goals, you will become weak and thin. It’s as simple as that. If you overeat, you’ll become sluggish and overweight.
You Don’t Need to Overexert Yourself Every Day
Most people put off joining a gym or exercising because they think they have to do it every day. You don’t. Sometimes, being consistent 3 times a week is all you need. As long as you’re consistent, and this routine is working for you, you’ll get fit. Slowly building yourself up is so much better than overexerting yourself from the beginning and becoming exhausted.
Weighing Yourself Isn’t Necessary
When you’re trying to get fit, it can be tempting to weigh yourself a lot. Don’t! The scales don’t reveal anything other than your mass, which doesn’t give you any valuable information on fitness levels, fat, or muscles. You need to take progress pictures, measure yourself, and even have a bodyfat test with a professional to reveal your real results. Weighing yourself is not as important as many people make out. Going by a number on the scales and not the way you look is just silly.
It’s a Never-ending Journey
Why is it so many people go backwards and forwards when it comes to fitness? They lose a bit of weight and then go back to the way they were before. It’s usually because they haven’t changed their mindset, and they’re thinking of it as a short term thing. It’s a life time thing, not a quick fix. Remember that and you’ll go far!
