Spending Christmas In Europe: Watch Out Germany!

In May I quit my job to go freelance so I would have more time to travel; I stuck to my word and have been somewhere new at least once a month since I took the plunge, and Christmas is no exception. My best friend and I are heading to Berlin to emerge ourselves in the Christmas markets before returning home the early hours of the 24th December. It’s not too late for those wanting to book a festive break, and here’s why you should:

😱➡️  10 fun places to spend Christmas in 2014

Less tourists

Other tourists from the northern hemisphere hardly go to places where it is snowing as well because they come from places that are cold already at the same time. They go south, where it is warm. Citizens from the far northern hemisphere are not 100% big fans of snow and most hate it. This would mean less competition in the lines for us Filipino tourists and shorter queue. We could spend more time at specific sites without worrying about missing the next site because traffic in and out of the monuments are light.

Everything is a bargain

Since it is the lean season, shops would lower their prices just to make a sale for the day. The demand is low, so to make tourists and shoppers buy, they provide big discounts. Your usual Refrigerator magnets that costs 5 Euros during Spring, Summer and Fall would drop down to 2 to 3 Euros in Winter. Prices of food remains the same, but prices for souvenirs drop down to an all time low. Always remember, they need to earn a living and need food, warmth and comfort this cold season, so don’t haggle the prices like it is almost free.

Different kind of scenery

The Eiffel Tower looks very much different without snow, like the rest of the landscape and monuments. Everything is covered with white and the effect gives us a more calming and serene feeling, somewhat romantic even. Snow works like magic and even if it transforms a wonderful monument, it doesn’t take away the magnificence and legacy that structure brings.

Tips before you go

Remember, this is the lean season and the cold season, so the temperature will not cause your blood pressure to shoot up, you will be more relaxed as there are fewer groups on site, and most of all, you don’t need to hurry up to get back on the bus because for sure the next site will have no or shorter queue.

We all want an extra ordinary vacation at less the cost. We all dream to travel and visit wonderful monuments in our lifetime. Make early preparations as not all nationalities are free to enter without visas. Purchase your winter clothes while they are on sale and start making short jogs or walks to prepare your legs and feet as these European tours are mostly walking tours.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
