Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve spent day and night transforming my garden, as I felt like it was really letting the rest of my lovely property down and needed some serious TLC.
After a lot of blood, sweat and tears (not to mention, a seriously bruised bank account), my garden has undergone a major transformation! Whilst it’s still not complete, it’s a darn sight better than it was. Now it’s just time for the fun part… decorating the lawn, decking and the patio underneath my terrace.
It’s been a bit of a conundrum though. I’ve always known what I wanted when it came to my living room and my bedroom, but now I have so much outdoor space, I feel a little overwhelm. If you’re feeling the same, then try starting with one section of your garden, like I did. So here is part one of my outdoor spaces posts…
The Patio
Patios are a great accessory for your garden. They provide an area for you to have gatherings outside during the sunny months. They also happen to look great with am outdoor rocker recliner and can bring a garden together. However, you can’t just install a patio and leave it at that. You need to style it up, make it look even better.
Places To Sit
Every good patio needs to provide seating for any guests, but there are many outdoor seating ideas to consider to find the one that fits your backyard. You can buy outdoor chairs that comfortable and can resist the harsh weather. There are also bean bag chairs you can buy for the ultimate outdoor relaxation.
If you’re hosting a garden party this summer, then you need to make sure you have enough places for your guests to sit. No one wants to be standing around all day and night in the sun!
A Place To Eat
One of the great things about patios is that you can eat outside in the summer! You no longer have to sit in your dining room or kitchen, staring out the window longingly. You can enjoy your food, sitting at an outdoor table.
Choose a table that is suitable for the outdoor conditions. It needs to be durable and heavy, so it doesn’t blow away in the wind. Some outdoor tables come with support to tie them down.
Accessories
The patio is a garden accessory, but sometimes accessory’s need their own accessories! There are lots of little things you can buy to liven up a patio. You can buy stylish plant pots to put flowers in, making your patio look bright and beautiful.
There are outside patio rugs that are perfect for bringing a patio to life. Also, you could invest in a few cute, garden, gnomes to place on the patio. Not only do garden gnomes add something different to your patio, they’re also a great talking point.
Don’t go overboard with the accessories, only pick a few things. You don’t want to load up your patio with lots of things. Otherwise, it will be a complete mess! It’s meant to be a gorgeous back garden patio, not a junkyard.
Cover
It might be wise to buy some form of aerial cover for a patio, in case of bad weather. You can buy numerous marquees online that are perfect for this. You can set them up on your patio, and they’ll look great and provide protection from the rain.
If you don’t want a big marquee on your patio, perhaps go for something simpler. A big umbrella that stands up and protects the table from rain can be a decent alternative.
Lighting
Get some proper outdoor lighting around your patio for when the sun goes down. If you’re hosting a patio party, then you’ll need lighting for the evening hours. Don’t make your friends go home when the sun sets, stay outside for longer enjoying the warm nights!
By pimping your patio, you can turn it into a thing of beauty. It will go from a solid 7 to an all round 10 in just a few steps.
