My Tips For Finding The Perfect Home

If the time has come to purchase your own place, you are most probably incredibly excited. I know I was when I brought my own home, earlier this year. However, I knew that even though I was excited, I needed to take house hunting seriously, and so do you.

Think of it like this, buying your own home is one of the biggest investments that you will ever make. So when it comes to choosing the perfect place, you need to ensure that you take your time and don’t rush into anything.

To help you ensure that you find the perfect property, I thought I would share all the tips that I found useful when house hunting, with you, here:

Think about your wants and needs

First things first, create two lists; one of your wants and one of your needs for your new home. The things that you need your house to have are musts, but the things you want it to have aren’t so important.

For instance if you need two bedrooms, it’s important to look for somewhere that can meet your needs. While a lack of bedrooms could be a deal breaker, if a property doesn’t have a certain feature that you want don’t let that put you off. For me, location was everything!

Don’t go it alone

Don’t make the mistake of searching for your new home by yourself, get some help. You will find it much easier to find the perfect place if you have some help from the experts, like the estate agents at Greenaway Residential.

You might like the idea of saving money be going it alone, but if you want to find a home that you love, professional help is a must. Having someone show you around a property, and explain all about it is incredibly useful. Plus, if you have any questions, you have someone on hand to ask.

Choose somewhere you would be happy to stay for years

When it comes to buying a property, it’s a good idea to choose somewhere that you would be happy to stay for at least a few years. Buying and moving into a new home takes a lot of time and effort, and with moving costs and lawyer’s fees, is expensive.

Choosing somewhere that you will be happy to stay for at least five years makes those extra costs worth it. It also means that any renovations, you make will be worth the cost, as you will live there long enough to enjoy them.

Pick a property that you can grow into

If you can afford it, opt for a larger property than you need. If you are planning on starting a family sometime in the future, buying a property with an extra bedroom is a great idea. Or, if you can’t afford an extra bedroom, buying somewhere with potential to extend is ideal.

Lots of the properties I looked at previous to the one I settled on only had one bedroom. I didn’t think much of it at the time, and was more concerned about location than I was the bedrooms – but I’m glad I didn’t overlook it for long.

Love the surroundings

As I keep saying, for me this was the most important thing when choosing a house. I always knew buying near the sea was going to be expensive, but to me, it was all about the location and staying in my hometown near my friends, family and job meant everything.

You see, you can easily change and adapt a property, but you can’t change the surroundings so easily. That’s why, when choosing a property to buy, it’s important that you love where it is located.

😱➡️  Things you learn after buying your first house

Choosing a home to buy is a big deal, and it’s important that you are choosy about the place that you pick. You need to choose a home that has everything that you need, has the potential to adapt as your family grows and is located in the perfect place.
