My New Years Resolutions 2016

Well, it’s creeping towards the end of the year now, and that means a lot of us are thinking about New Year’s resolutions. Every year I set myself ambitious goals, but I never seem to keep up with them for very long. I think New Year’s resolutions are important because they give us drive and goals for our lives. So I think it’s best to go for something small.

With this in mind, I’ve reassessed this year and decided to make my goals more realistic. I’ve also based them around things I’ve wanted to do for a while anyway. I’m hoping this will give me extra drive and motivation to succeed.

Lose Weight

First up, and this is probably on everyone’s list, I want to lose weight. I’ve wanted to do this for a while, and will be even more in that mind-set after the festive period. So I’ve set myself a New Year’s resolution of losing weight as much as I can. This means I need to be more dedicated to cutting down on what I eat, and getting a better diet. Regular exercise is also a must so I might have to get myself a personal trainer, and make sure I go to the gym.

Save Money

The next thing on my list is the big elephant in the room – saving money. This seems to be one of the hardest things we can do as a society these days, especially when I keep finding lovely furniture and home accessories for the house. So I am pledging to save as much money as I can in the coming year though. I know it’s not going to be easy, but seeing a new iMac at the end of the tunnel makes it totally worth it.

Have a Clear Out

I’m also going to look at having a clear out around the house. This is something I’ve been looking at doing for a long time, and hopefully, this will inspire me to get cracking. I’ve had a look at some convenient pod storage to store stuff I still want to keep and chuck the rest away. Having a major clear out is long overdue since life has been a bit mad recently. Having a home that is sparse just makes it look so much nicer and more homely.

Increase the Stamps in My Passport

Thinking a little more outside the box, I would absolutely love to do a bit more travelling this year. I haven’t done nearly enough, and I’d love to get some more stamps in my passport. There are so many places I want to see and experience. So many places that have been on my bucket list for far too long. It’s going to require dedication, drive and sensible financial savings in order to achieve this. But I’m confident I can do it, and broaden my mind even further with the gift of travel.

This New Year I’m really going to try to keep up with all my resolutions for a change! We all know it can be difficult to keep up with it. That’s why I think it’s important to set realistic resolutions, or, at least, ones I’m going to stick to. This list should provide a few ideas of things that I’m planning to do for my resolutions.

  • In the last 10 years I’ve only managed to honour 1 resolution – to give up smoking. So this year I’m going for something manageable – to cut my alcohol intake by half.

  • they all sound great, last year i managed to lose weight and complete the couch to 5k, so this year is all about getting myself a great job that i will enjoy!! happy new year

  • Someone once gave me a top-tip about saving money. I was a little bit envious of people who paid into Christmas Clubs and then withdrew the money before Christmas, to spend on presents. I didn’t know anyone locally who ran a club. I mentioned this when I was in the building society and the cashier suggested I set up a direct debit every month from my current account into a savings account. I explained I never had regular ‘spare cash’ but she was adamant that if the money left my account with my other bills, I wouldn’t miss it. I bit the bullet and tried it and I have to say I haven’t looked back. Whilst things may be tight on a day-to-day basis, I always have money for Christmas 🙂

  • every year I say im going to loss weight, loss weight through out the year then buy the time christmas is over im back to where i started lol

  • I too am trying to lose weight, my husband and I have started going to the gym together, playing squash and going on long walks at the weekend. So far it has been so much easier to keep motivated with him by my side, knowing that we are not only losing weight together for ourselves but for each other as well.
