I’m a big fan of April. What is so special about April? April is usually the month when the sun makes its first appearance, and you’re reminded that the sky isn’t always grey. April is the month that everybody throws on their flip-flops and floods the beaches. April is when people (me included) wear bikinis even though it’s still not cold. But that’s okay because April is full of excitement and anticipation. Summer is coming.
I’m dead excited about summer 2017, and here’s why:
Getting back in the water
It’s no secret that I’ll usually go in the sea in even the coldest months, however, today was an exception… I might be desperate to wear my new Seafolly rash vest from Simply Beach – but I’m not stupid. It was a gorgeous day, but even the Cornish sunshine couldn’t trick me into the water today.
Luckily wearing this rash vest means that I can start taking advantage of the warm weather as soon as the sun comes out. It’s a little bit too fresh for me to jump in just now, but I reckon over the next couple of weeks there will be some opportunities to have a splash around in the waves.
Being self-employed means I can take advantage of the sunny days, and work when it’s overcast. Last year I tried to get down to the beach a few times a week, even if it just meant for a quick dip before lunch, which is one of the perks of living less than a 10-minute walk from a beach.
There’s nothing better than the feeling of sun and salt on your skin. Come on, summer!
Wedding galore
There are so many exciting wedding-related things coming up, I can barely contain myself. I’m going to two very special weddings, as well as planning my own. We’ve already got our tickets for wedding fayres, booked an appointment for dress shopping, and been buying decor ready for the big day. Prepared much?
I’m learning calligraphy
It would be naive to plan a summer that only included activities you can do in the sunshine; I do live in England, after all. Last month, S bought me all the supplies and resources I needed to begin practicing calligraphy. It’s always been something I’ve been interested in mastering, and I’m ready to wave goodbye to terrible handwriting.
I’ve set myself a challenge to get good enough, that I can write our invitations and signage for our wedding in 2019. It’s two years away, so I should hope I’d have made a little bit of progress by then, but I’m not holding my breath. It’s so difficult but hey, practice makes perfect!
Going on more holidays (of course!)
I said that when S and I eventually got engaged, we would stop going on holiday, and we’d save for our wedding. But seriously, who were we kidding? We’re not going to stop going on holiday anytime soon, which is partly why we’ve decided to have our wedding in 2019, as opposed to 2018.
We might have to rein in our trips a little, but it’ll be worth it in the end. Even if we’re not on holiday, we will certainly spend at least one evening in the garden sipping champagne, booking our honeymoon!
