Here’s How I Transformed My Bedroom Into A Luxury Retreat

When it comes to transforming your bedroom into somewhere that you are happy to spend your time, a luxury bedroom is ideal. It might just be me, but there always seems to be something appealing about bedrooms that have that touch of class to them.

That’s why, when it came to decorating my bedroom, I knew that the best option would be to create a luxurious bedroom. Somewhere that I could relax and unwind after a long day, and be happy to spend my time recharging my batteries.

Before I could do that, however, I needed to work out how to go about designing the perfect luxury-style bedroom. After lots of research, I found that through colours and lighting, I could create an amazing luxury bedroom.

In case you also want to do the same, I thought I would share my top luxury bedroom design tips with you, below:

Choose your colour scheme carefully

When you think about luxury hotels, the colours that they use are always very similar, and that’s because they work well. To create a luxurious bedroom retreat, when it comes to choosing your colour scheme, copy your favourite hotel.

Most hotels choose to use calming colours, like sandy tans, beige, pastel blue, and olive green. While you will have noticed that some hotels have white colour schemes, using white in your bedroom could make it too sterile.

I’ve decided to go for greys and blues, and using dark room such as old vintage crates and I have a large beautiful  G-Plan Fresco Danish teak 1960’s sideboard to give a cosy classic feel to the room. I’ve accessorized the sideboard but there are still a few bits to go up on the wall, including a lovely print from Society6 and a gorgeous Thomas Kent Camden smoke clock from Redcandy.

Pick the perfect bed

Your bed should be the focal point of your bedroom, and so, should always be the most eye-catching item in the room. Start off by choosing a bed that will work well with your personal style and the style of the bedroom – ensure that it has the wow factor.

The best beds for using as focal points are four posted beds, vintage style beds, and beds with oversized headboards. Have a think about the type of bed you want, and then have a look online to find the best deal.

Make your bed look great

As well as choosing an amazing bed, for a truly luxurious room, you also need to make your bed look great. Simple things, like choosing a stylish duvet cover and investing in cute throw pillows, are all it takes to make your bed look good.

When it comes to the sheets for your luxury bedroom, opt for the best sheets you can find. Admittedly, the sheets you choose may not have a big impact on the look of your room. However, they will make your bed more comfortable and luxurious feeling for you.

If, like me, you are a fan of hotel bedding & linen – it’s always so soft and crisp – you could choose white, hotel-style sheets for your bed. I always find that there is something amazing about hotel beds, which is why I chose to invest in hotel style linen for my bed.

Include lots of sources of light

When it comes to lighting, including multiple sources of light is important. If possible, steer clear of fluorescent, overhead lighting, instead opt for recessed lighting.

The one thing that kills luxury is bright, overhead lighting. So if you have an overhead light in your bedroom, make sure to invest in a dimmer switch. To add more sources of light to the room, invest in a few table lamps to place around the room, as well as a string or two of fairy lights.

Believe it or not, creating a luxury bedroom doesn’t have to be difficult. Simply by following these tips, you can create the perfect, luxury bedroom.
