I celebrated my university hand in by treating myself to some new beauty products from Escentual; Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream 100ml (available here), Clarins Skin Illusion Loose Powder Foundation 13g (available here) and Clarins Gloss Prodige Intense Colour and Shine Lip Gloss 6ml 09 in Water Lily (available here).
When I was younger I always remember my nan using Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment cream (£20) and carrying it around in her purse with her, wherever she went. I remember the spicy floral scent smelling gorgeous! I’ve been growing my nails for the past couple of years and whilst being distracted by university and work, I end up neglecting my hands and decided it was time to invest in some TLC for my hands.
I’d read heaps of reviews online about the hand cream being the best on the market and consistently rated 5 stars, so I thought it was worth a shot. It’s the perfect size to pop in your handbag but not too small that you have to keep running to the shops for another bottle. The ivory coloured cream is packed with Shea butter and sesame oil extracts (moisturise); condurango bark extract (helps prevent damp palms); myrrh extract (strengthens nails).
I’ve been experimenting with cream, mousse and powder foundations recently to find something that suits my skin and is lighter than what I have been using Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation 201 Classic Beige 30ml and it matched my skin perfectly. I just felt it was too heavy and didn’t have a great deal of staying power.
When I came to realise I’d left my foundation at my boyfriends, I found some old Dream Matte Mousse – Sand in my draw and it gave me flawless coverage. I’ve found my skin getting worse and thought it was time for a change.
Clarins Skin Illusion Loose Powder Foundation (£28) comes in adorable case with a gold lid, doubled as a brush. It comes with some cute instructions illustrated on the box as well. It looks like it’s be great to keep in a travel make-up bag for touching up on the go, as you’ll always have your brush especially for your powder. It has a neat plastic cover to stop the powder pouring out minimising wastage.
I’d heard that loose powder was much lighter and better for your skin. In the run up to summer, this is exactly what I was looking for to banish my bad skin and prepare to ‘go naked’ on the beach in the next couple of months.
I have quite oily skin so I’m no stranger to applying powder, however I have never been brave enough to wear just powder and no mousse or cream foundation. I found the Clarins loose powder offered great coverage and was a good match for my skin.
The powder has a ultra-fine, silky texture—with light-reflecting pigments, minerals and plant extracts.
I’m not one to wear lipstick because I always feel so self-concious how it looks on my face, what if it get’s on my teeth and how often do I re-apply? I’m definitely a lip gloss girl, as I’ve always got dry lips, despite how much Vaseline and Coco Island Paw Paw Ointment I apply, they are always chapped.
The Clarins Gloss Prodige Intense Colour & Shine (£17) combining incredible shine, intense colour and lasting hold is moisturising and the colour is subtle. The gel-like formulation that delivers intense colour and a fuller looking pout, what more could a girl want?
