Autumn is here, the temperatures are dropping and now is the time to find activities that will keep your kids entertained and distracted as Christmas approaches. There are loads of great family activities you can take part in that won’t cost you a lot of money. Here are my best tips:
Grab your bikes
If you’re blessed with a good day of weather, then why not head out into the countryside with your bikes? If you have young children, you can always look into the bikes three-wheeled brother the trike. There are some great adult tricycles from Jorvik Tricycles that you can take for days out with the family.
Kids love getting out on their bikes or trikes, so it’s a great way to do something they love and get them some exercise at the same time. By the end of the day, they’ll be burned out so it will be easy to get them to bed and you can settle down to an episode of Corrie!
Visit a museum
There are some amazing museums across the UK, you really are spoilt for choice. Whether they’re a fan of history, love their art or enjoy learning about dinosaurs, there’s something for everyone.
At the moment, the weather is not too outdoor-friendly, so a museum is a great way to get them out of the house doing something and learning outside of school hours. All you need to do is search museums local to you and you’ll be given a whole host of options.
Go to a shopping centre
There are loads of shopping centres with a whole host of popular shops and attractions. This is a great way to, not only get your Xmas shopping done but also get the kids out of the house.
You can always offer them an incentive. Let them get a treat from one of the shops, whether that be a milkshake, sweets or another confectionary as a reward for being behaved. You’ll often find some shopping centres have play areas to allow them to release some of their energy.
Indoor Play Areas
Your children’s dream, indoor play areas allow them to be free whilst you relax with a coffee and read a book. A bit like with bikes, this is a great opportunity for your kids to release some energy and have some fun. If they have friends’ round for the day, this is a great way to give them some freedom and gets them off your hands for a bit whilst they play.
These are some of the best days out I could think of, hopefully, they come in use for you and your family! If you have any suggestions then feel free to comment below, I’m always open to hearing new ideas!
